About Us

It all began in 2010. Holly and Ken had just married and sold their Wedding Stationery business. With creativity running her core, Holly yearned for another creative outlet. She began a business that focussed on button themed wedding bouquets, corsage, centrepieces and buttonholes. Unfortunately she found that there was a gap in the supply of buttons in the UK, and so decided to contact the manufacturers and trade suppliers direct to source a more diverse range of buttons, and that they say is history. The Button Shack was born.

Over the past 5 years the business grew to become an online haberdashery focusing not only on buttons, but also ribbons, felts, fabrics and much more, as well as also becoming a bricks and mortar shop in the quaint Old High Street of Folkestone.
As with all aspects of life, changes occur, some for the better, some for the worse. Unfortunately, in 2014, Ken and Holly realised that the business was no longer going in the direction they had planned for and so even after taking part and thoroughly enjoying every aspect of The Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace; they made the difficult decision to close the virtual doors for the last time.

It wasn't until they sold the last of the stock that they realised that their original ideas and aspirations for The Button Shack where still very much capable and they both knew that they weren't ready to let go.

With over half a year's planning, purchasing and moulding the business into what they imagined, here we have the brand new version of The Button Shack.

Focusing on what they know best and not wanting to merge into similarity they have created a one stop shop for all variations of buttons. Whether it's natural, spots, miniatures, shapes or simple coat buttons – there's something for everyone!

One single button can complete a project, or one single button can inspire one – each and every button variation here at The Button Shack has been personally selected as buttons we, ourselves would use.

We hope you find what you're looking for!
